Book Review

All Tied Down by Alexandra Hale is book 1 in The Ironwood Novel series and is Emerson and Garrett’s story. I really enjoyed this story, and it is everything you would come to expect from Alexandra Hale; a passionate love story set in a world of warmth, comfort and found family. Following an spontaneous wedding in Las Vegas; Emerson and Garrett agree to stay in their “fake” marriage for six months to help Garrett’s public image following problems with a difficult member of his band. Both of them come from different but very public lives and they have to navigate merging their worlds while trying their best not to fall further for each other despite their intense chemistry. As a reader, it is obvious from the start that they are going to fail in this endeavour and fall in love with each other.  Their journey to realisation and acceptance of their love makes for a heartwarming read that’s full of humour and high heat.

I thought Emerson was a great character, she’s feisty, she’s fierce and she fights for those she loves. I really liked the fact that she was allowed to change her outlook as the story progressed and that it was ok for her to realise that she could change her mind about what she wanted in her life. She adored Garrett and made no apologies for embracing their intimacy and it was really refreshing to see two characters who were so unapologetically hot for each other! Garrett is also a fantastic male lead who was perfect for Emerson in virtually every way. A common thread between them, was dealing with different types loss and grief and accepting a new and different version of their personal and professional lives. It was really nice to see them lean on each other and protect each other at various stages of the book.

The world-building was really good as well; it is always nice to revisit previous characters as well as seeing the new connections forming for the new characters. I always enjoy reading the text message conversations between the boys and very much enjoyed Theo’s sass. I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it.
