Advanced Reader Copy Review: The Wild of Falling by Alexandra Hale

The Wild of Falling by Alexandra Hale is book 6 in The Blackstone Falls Novel series and is Tanner and Deacon’s story. This was an incredibly emotional, moving and heartfelt story that dealt with many themes but essentially had falling in love and being loved at its centre.
When we meet them, Deacon has been doggedly pursuing Tanner and although Tanner is interested, he is not yet in the place emotionally to engage. I really liked Deacon as character, he was steady, warm and gracious and clearly had strong feelings for Tanner but didn’t overwhelm or force things between them. He recognised Tanner had been through a lot and give him space, but he still held his personal boundaries when it mattered, and this was important for his character as well as the story. I adored Tanner and my heart genuinely hurt for him as he navigated his parents’ rejection, his history with Fallon, his love for his son Briggs and his developing emotional connection to Deacon. I just wanted to give him a big hug and tell him that it would be ok and that sometimes he needed to get out of his own way. It was actually nice to see mainly Sorren, and sometimes Otto, be able to do that for him. Eventually Tanner is able to take that leap of faith and start a relationship with Deacon, there are bumps along the way but with good communication, strong chemistry and spice the two navigate their way to a hard fought and well-earned happy ending, that was really touching and heartwarming.
I thought the world building was excellent as we re-visited both communities and found family is a huge part of this story. It was lovely to watch Tanner realise that he had people who loved him for who he was and how that allowed him to take those final steps to heal himself, protect his son and start his life with Deacon. I would definitely recommend this book.
