Book Review: My Kind of Guy by Sarina Bowen
My Kind of Guy, by Sarina Bowen, is book 4 in the My Hockey Guy series and features Single Dad and Bar owner, Forest and Hockey Goalie Beck, who meet properly when Beck agrees to temporarily fill in as goalie for Forest's team. I liked this story and thought it was a solid Hockey Romance.
Beck was such an endearing character and, yes, he was goalie weird and everything he said was the start of a wonderful journey! But he was kind, mature for his age, loyal and such a sweetheart. I adored him and I was so happy to see how his story developed and all the good things that came his way. Forest, however, was such hard work and it made it really hard to warm up to him.
Understandably, following an emotional devastating event with disastrous financial consequences, Forest kept everyone at arm’s length until he met Beck. Although he did acknowledge he had developed feelings for Beck, he just kept giving mixed signals and ultimately ended up hurting him. I think it took him almost too long to realise how he felt and what he needed to do and I am glad that Beck made him work for their HEA.
I loved the found family and friends in this story, from Scully who co-owned the bar and Beck's best friends Rigsy, as well as the divorced dad's group and Forest's son Charlie. This really added another dimension to the story and helped make the emotional impact. 4/5 stars
