HEA Micro-podcasts Presents: Minutes on Why it is ok to NOT finish that book!

Minutes on Why it's ok NOT to finish that book! This is a topic that I think shouldn't really be controversial but requires sensitivity, so probably a quick pace shortened format is not the best place for a discussion! All jokes aside, I take my reading seriously, when I want to read a book, I give it my full attention and I immerse myself in it as much as possible and I am immensely grateful to authors for producing the work they do. However, life is real. People have preferences and I won't get on with every book, no matter how much I would like to. It won't gel for me for whatever reasons and that's fine! I think it is perfectly acceptable to do not finish (DNF) a book. Whereas young me would have forced it and read grudgingly to the end. Now I am much more comfortable in myself with saying thanks but no I am not going to finish. I don't think you should feel guilty in making that choice. Every book has it is audience and it is quite possible that you are not part of that audience. So I personally don't think it is an inherently bad thing to DNF. However, if people are rude about it or use it a basis to attack the author, then that's unacceptable and is a different discussion. I am always interested to hear what people think about DNF? Is it even a debate anymore?
