May TBR refresh: Book Breakdown
Well here we are again, combining my two loves of repeat features and book statistics! All jokes aside, for me I think it will be quite interesting comparing my breakdowns from the start of the month versus what I actually read at the end of the month. With the usual caveats that this is all in good fun and not to be taken all that seriously. Not least because I am notoriously bad at sticking to said TBR list 🤣📚💕
May’s TBR
The largest overall share of books on this month’s TBR are Misc./Contemporary, which make up nearly 50%. The next largest chunk is ARCs for review at 20%, followed by Sports Romance at 13%. Then Fake -Dating, Friends to lovers and Cowboy are all at 7%. I have made an effort to make my TBR this month more varied in to keep myself more engaged. I do like Sports romances but there were just so many on my previous list, that I couldn’t see the wood for the various *inserts sports references*. I think an overall break and re-balance might help my reading output this month. I am surprised that Cowboy romances continue to be one of the lowest shares, given that they are a firm favourite of mine. I think I might have to seek out some recommendations for next month’s refresh.
Here is the same information presented as absolute numbers. Not much more to say, other than I am on track to finish my ARCs and I might take on some more towards the end of the month, depending on how my overall list progresses. I would be surprised if I did manage to finish my list, certainly that’s not my aim. My aim is to read for pleasure and if I finish, that’s fine. And if I don’t then that’s also fine too. Of note, I have a Fake -dating and a Friends to Lovers romances on here, which are not favourite tropes of mine, so I will be interested to see if I do actually end up reading them! Never a dull moment in my bookish world!
Finally, a side-by-side comparison of Mar/Apr breakdown vs May Breakdown. The comparison is using percentages instead absolute numbers as it makes simpler. For the purposes of this I am going to compare categories that appear in both months, which are, ARCs, Cowboy, Sports and Misc./Contemporary (I have very helpfully decided to change graph colour schemes for some random reason). The main change is that I have expanded the Misc./Contemporary category (as well as adding in two other categories) and that in reality ARCs, Cowboy and Sports numbers have probably stayed the same. I look forward to the end of the month to see if May reads reflects the start of the month or has changed completely. Either way, I am excited about all the potential reading opportunities for the month ahead! Happy reading 📚
