My current TBR: Book breakdown

I try (and I want to get better at) posting my TBR list regularly. I have a hard number limit of 15 books on my TBR at any given time, because I find more than that and it becomes inhibitory to my reading. That said, whilst I might be firm about the maximum number of books on the list, I am quite flexible about the types of books on the list and I don’t always operate a one in one out policy. Say, if one of my favourite authors has a book coming out , that’s likely going to jump to the top of my list and now that I am beginning to get into reading ARCS, obviously time-sensitive reads will be prioritized. All of this to say, that the composition of my TBR list probably changes quite frequently and this lends itself to further exploration with stats. Or that I finally have an opportunity to dust of my Excel skills and practise plotting charts…

Updated TBR week beginning 13/04/2026

I don’t consider myself to be a really huge fan of Sports Romance but I do like to read them, so it is really surprising to me that Sports Romance makes up nearly 73% of current TBR list. The next biggest group is miscellaneous, which is mix of various tropes that weren’t easy to categorise and there are three in that group. Finally, one each of Cowboy Romance and Movie star/ Hollywood. Interestingly, Cowboy Romance is a definite favourite of mine and I am surprised that there are so few, which suggests I need to seek out some further recommendations!

Reader, I know you won’t believe my next sentence but it is true. I really don’t think of myself as an Ice Hockey Romance Fan either. I have never watched a game and know nothing of the rules. I am also British, so it’s not a national sport here or at least not at the level of Football or Rugby (although please feel free to educate me in comments if I am wrong). So imagine my surprise that it is the main trope in my TBR list. Yes, I am a Heated Rivalry Fan (both mediums) and I have been since I first read it way back when in 2020, just to clarify that recent events haven’t influenced my interest. I guess I shouldn’t find it that surprising, as the stats are quite clear. So the next question, is this a data point, a trend or an established fact? Who knows, but hopefully future book periodic breakdowns will yield the answers! Thank you for reading.
