April Reads - Book Breakdown

I previously prepared a book breakdown for my then TBR and I thought it was really interesting exercise to see the overall breakdown of what I planned to read. It makes sense to me to do the reverse of that and capture what I ended up reading and see if the two are similar. Since the is my first attempt as the post read or completion list, it captures the end of March and all of April as there was small bit of overlap between the two, i.e. there were one or two books that were started at the end of March and completed at the start of April. So how does the breakdown look?

April Reads

Firstly, I have tried to be quite broad in my categories as it is possible to get too granular, but I think these classifications are fair. The categories are as follows; ARCs, Single Dad/Nanny, Cowboy, Sports, Misc/Contemporary. I have included a new category for ARCs because it makes sense to separate them even though they can (and do fall) across other categories. For now, I am interested in seeing how they collectively impact on the reading breakdown. This is closer to what I would expect my reading interests to reflect, a good mixes of different tropes as opposed to the TBR that skews Sports Romance heavy. Unusually for me there’s a single Dad/Nanny romance in here, as that’s not a genre I read too often.

The chart above is the actual breakdown of the numbers. I think again it is quite evenly spread and there are two things of note. Of the books that can be categorised, sports books are the ones I read the most. Yet more evidence, that Sports romances are my preferred category, whether I accept this or not 😂 Secondly, I am very early on in my ARC journey and I have been super lucky to receive books. At the time of this process, I have just completed two, however, I have another three on my list to read within the next 10 days. I really do enjoy reading the ARCs and it is something I want to continue doing. However, I am acutely aware that there are a lot of new releases from April and May that I really want to read and I have to find a way to keep those competing demands in balance.
