June Reads - Book Breakdown

As now seems to be the set-up, first comes the recap and then come the stats! Overall, a normal reading month for me. In fact, it was identical number-wise to May, which was nice. I am wise enough to know that The Summer Months will likely be leaner for me because of time constraints but probably the numbers will tick over on account of me committing to ARCs during July and Aug.

There is a conversation to be had about whether I should further sub-catergorise the ARC group or include them in the overall trope count. Today is not that day and, I do like to think there was a good reason for me keeping them separate, even if I can’t quite recall it! ARCs do make up a solid chunk of June’s reading, which is ok and will probably be a trend that will continue through the Summer at least. My TBR just about edges in terms of book count and a less varied range than in previous months. Notably, no Sports romances this month, which is unusual I guess but I am ok with a little break. I know I am heading back into a Cowboy phase because that trope was represented in both the ARCs (2 books) and the TBR and I am very much okay with that!

Pie chat time! I thought I would mix things up a bit and bring in May’s chart (the top chart) vs June’s chart (the bottom chart) as the overall numbers are the same but the breakdown is different. ARCs continue to make up about 45% of my reading. I love reading them but I also know that I don’t want to necessarily be a majority ARC reader. I will track it through the Summer and then hopefully alight on a way to get that figure down to a level that I am happier with (I don’t think locking myself away in a box so I can’t access Netgalley or GRR is a viable option, but never say never!) Sports Romances are out this month and I don’t dare predict how long that will last. Cowboys are in and that’s almost definitely going to last through out the Summer, because nothing signifies Summer to me more than reading about Ranch life apparently! I read less slightly less tropes this month and again, I don’t dare predict how long that will last either. I know I have very ‘itchy feet’ at the moment, which means my interest wonders all over the place and I become much more of a mood reader! It will be interesting to see what next month brings!
